Make a GIF from pictures or a video clip
Image mode turns each selected JPG, PNG, or WebP file into a frame and lets you reorder them. The first image sets the output aspect ratio. Fit whole frame keeps every image visible against the selected background color, while Fill frame crops the edges to fill that ratio. Video mode samples frames from one browser-decodable MP4, WebM, or MOV clip. Both modes produce an animated GIF.
Frame delay controls animation speed
A shorter delay makes frames advance faster; a longer delay makes each frame remain visible. Smooth motion usually needs more closely sampled frames, while slideshows and reaction sequences can use longer pauses. More frames and larger dimensions generally increase the output file size.
Choose an output size that fits where you will share it
You can set an output width from 64 to 1280 px; the height follows the source aspect ratio and is also capped at 1280 px. GIF stores image data for every frame, so shorter clips, fewer frames, and smaller dimensions usually make the file easier to send and load.
What browser-based GIF creation can and cannot preserve
Each frame is reduced to the 256 colours a GIF can hold, so gradients may look grainier than the source. In image mode, transparent areas are filled with the selected background color; video audio is never included. Video support depends on the formats and codecs your browser can decode. Source EXIF, camera, and location metadata are stripped from the new GIF.

Why is my animated GIF file large?
File size grows with pixel dimensions, frame count, duration, and visual complexity. Try a smaller output width, a shorter video segment, or fewer sampled frames.
Does a GIF made from video include sound?
No. The GIF format does not support an audio track, so only the sampled visual frames are included.
Will the GIF loop forever?
Enter 0 for continuous looping or a value from 1 to 100 for a finite loop count. Playback applications may expose their own controls, but the loop setting is stored in the GIF.
Are my images or video uploaded?
No. Source decoding, frame preparation, and GIF encoding happen locally in your browser without an ImageNow server upload.
