JPG quality and file size
JPG uses lossy compression. ImageNow converts at high quality. The JPG may be smaller or larger than the source depending on its format, dimensions, and existing compression. Conversion cannot restore lost detail, and repeatedly re-encoding an already compressed JPG can make it look softer.
Transparent areas turn white, animations become one frame
JPG does not support transparent pixels, so transparent areas are placed on a white background. Animated GIF and WebP files become one still JPG frame because JPG cannot store animation.
