How SVG compression reduces file size
SVG files describe vector graphics with XML code. ImageNow goes over the file several times to remove redundant code and metadata, simplify values, and tidy paths and shapes. The process never converts the image to a raster format.

The optimized file is still an SVG, so its shapes and paths stay sharp at any size. The optimized file keeps its viewBox, allowing the downloaded SVG to keep its responsive scaling behavior.
